Why does my content feel so stiff and unnatural when I hit record?

Your content feels stiff because you’re trying to repeat the exact words from memory instead of trying to convey the feeling behind the idea. When the thought of “I have to upload this to YouTube” enters your mind, you disconnect from the moment and start performing, which feels like you’re giving an exam in college.

The goal of creating content isn’t to perfectly recite a script. In fact, every time you record, entirely different things might come out, and that’s perfectly okay.

The magic happens when you let the idea hold you, rather than you trying to force the idea out. This process involves moving from Dharana (the effort you put in to hold an idea) to Dhyana (the state where the idea flows through you effortlessly). Once you are in that flow state, what you say will be natural, authentic, and powerful.

The words might be different with each take, but the essence and the feeling, which is what truly matters, will be much stronger.

Your action step: Before you hit the record button, take three to five minutes to get into the right state. Close your eyes and meditate on the core idea or sutra you want to share. Ask questions about it.

Notice what visuals and feelings come up.

Wait until you feel that sense of flow, until the idea feels like it’s holding you, and only then start speaking.

Stop trying to be a perfect presenter and start becoming a vessel for your realizations.

When you focus on conveying the feeling, not just the words, your true, authentic voice will come through, and your audience will connect with it on a much deeper level.
