Your ideas disappear because an idea is one of the most vulnerable things in the world; if you don’t give it immediate attention, it loses its energy and dies.
I like to think of a new idea as a seed (Bija) or a newly hatched egg. You can’t just throw a seed out and hope it grows; it needs to be tended to right away. Similarly, a hatched egg needs to be warmed and kept in a safe space for it to develop. Your ideas are the same. When an idea strikes, its time has come, and you have to cater to it then and there. If you postpone it for “later,” that moment will never come, because the idea’s energy will be gone. You are essentially laying eggs and walking away without taking care of them.
It also helps to remember that you don’t have a monopoly on your ideas. Whenever you get a great idea, chances are that at least 10 to 20 other people have received that same idea at that exact moment. The only difference is who takes action on it. 99% of people will never take action, so don’t be in that 99%.
Your action step: The next time an idea strikes you, no matter where you are or what you’re doing, document it immediately. Don’t wait. Pull out your phone and record a quick selfie video or a voice note. If you prefer writing, open a notepad and start jotting it down. Just capture it the moment it arrives.
Don’t let your ideas slip away. Nurture them the moment they arrive, and you’ll find that the process of content creation becomes much more natural and consistent.
