My 2 rules for written communication

Welcome to my Notes To Self Series where I share my raw thoughts as they come to me in form of insights, epiphanies or ideas.

My 2 rules for writing for myself (while journaling my thoughts) and communicating with the team,

Rule #1 : Spend a lot of time figuring out different ways to ask the right questions to myself before I ask them to anyone else. Make those questions so sharp that it can cut through bullshit like a hot knife through butter.

Bad question : How can I increase sales?

Good questions : Why should the customer even care? What is the customer journey like? Where are they dropping off? What is the offer? Does the product really solve a problem or are we just attached to the product? Does the customer even want to solve that problem? Do we believe in the product?

Rule #2: When communicating with the team, write action oriented sentences. It simply means start sentences with a clear action word i.e. a VERB.

For example :

– *UPLOAD* logo to google drive
– *REGISTER* a domain
– *SETUP* wordpress on website

That’s it.
